Overview

The Microtronix Dual Input HD-SDI Video Switcher Design Kit provides a hardware platform for developing SDI video processing systems using the Cyclone III FPGA. This low cost development board is intended to be used by engineers to implement and design low cost SDI systems.  The board is capable of support switching up to 720p/1080i/1080p@30fps resolutions.  Reference designs demonstrate switching of HD SDI sources controlled through switches. 

The board utilizes a Gennum GS4911 HD/SD Graphics clock and timing generator with GENLOCK.  A baseband video output is available for displaying the SDI output video on a low cost monitor. 

Video Reference Designs
The SDI video reference designs are based on Altera's Avalon  VIP system interconnect framework. The video IP core reference designs are based on Altera’s video IP framework which simplifies the development of a custom video solution. Reference designs include:
